GRACE & ST PETER’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH
Welcomes You!
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic emergency in March, 2020,
we have had to suspend our usual worship schedule.
From July through October, 2020,
we shared outdoor, socially-distanced morning worship with
St John’s Episcopal Church, North Haven,
on their side lawn, every Sunday at 9:00 am.
During the winter we returned to remote worship only.
With Easter and the return of warm weather, and the availability of vaccination,
we will be gradually and safely reopening in-person worship.

Gathering on the lawn at St John’s with members of both churches,
for simple, informal worship following the order for the
Liturgy of the Word in the Book of Common Prayer.

Grace and St Peter’s supports all those who peacefully seek and work for the healing, reconciliation and transformation
of our communities.

EPISCOPAL BISHOPS IN NEW ENGLAND RESPOND
TO PRESIDENT TRUMP'S PHOTO OP IN FRONT OF ST. JOHN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, LAFAYETTE SQUARE, WASHINGTON, DC
“Our church may rightly feel outraged and insulted by having the symbols of our faith used as a set prop in a cynical political drama. The real abomination before us, however, is the continued oppression of and violence against people of color in this nation. Let us reserve and focus the energies of our indignation to serve our Lord Jesus Christ’s higher purpose: to extend love and mercy and justice for all, and especially for those whose life, liberty, and very humanity is threatened by the persistent sin of systemic racism and the contagion of white supremacy.”

WE ARE A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY
... welcoming and accepting of all people for worship, praise, fellowship and prayer.
We strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being.
SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS
At Grace & St Peter’s, we bring the Gospel into the world, giving our time and hearts to doing God’s work.
Every Friday night we host a dinner for the community. We have many regular guests that come to enjoy the great home-cooked meal and friendly conversations.
We also participate in many other outreach ministries in the Hamden-New Haven area.
SHARING GOD’S LOVE
Our congregation is lively and diverse. We come together in worship, service and fellowship: to share our lives, to support each other, to learn from each other, and to have fun together!
THE REVEREND
ROBERT BERGNER,
PRIEST-IN-CHARGE
We are called to love and support each other, to share each other’s joys and sorrows, to pray for one another, to encourage one another and to comfort one another.
We are called to gather together in worship, to sing, to pray, and to hear and reflect on scripture, to break bread
and share the Body of Christ.
We are called to go out into the world,
to serve our neighbors and to share
the good news of God’s love and Christ’s victory over sin and death.

HISTORY
Grace and St. Peter’s is the product of the merger of two parishes in 1990. St. Peter’s did not exist until 1958, but the history of Grace Church stretches back 200 years before the merger, when our nation was newly independent, the Episcopal Church USA had only recently established its own constitution and structure apart from the Church of England, and the town of Hamden was little more than a dusty crisscrossing of paths in the countryside.
